Now, an angel of the Lord spoke to Philip, saying, "Arise and go toward the south along the road which goes down from Jerusalem to Gaza." Acts 8:26
God still calls us to travel the road from Jerusalem to Gaza today. In Acts, God calls Philip to preach the good news of Jesus Christ.
Until today, God is calling each one of us to the road down from Jerusalem to Gaza, but God's intentions were never war; they were always to proclaim the Prince of Peace who bought each one of us with His precious Blood.
You see, the ONLY way to salvation is through the Blood of Jesus.
It is only then, through the Blood of Jesus, that you become, as Peter puts it so eloquently,
"But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light." 1 Peter 2:9
Philip encountered the Ethiopian eunuch on his way from Jerusalem to Gaza. The whole story is in Acts 8.26-40.
Philip was not intimidated because the Ethiopian Eunuch was a high government official. He knew that whatever your nationality, tribe, language, status, wealth, etc, if you do not accept Jesus as your personal Savior, then you are not a chosen people, you are not a royal priesthood, you are not a holy nation. For only in Jesus do we ever become any of those.
So whatever road you are on, whether from Jerusalem to Gaza, from Atlanta to New York, or from Ivory Coast to Ethiopia (where Wahid actually is today), may your focus always be to bring the Good News of redemption and salvation to whoever you meet.
Let us stay focused on our own journey from Jerusalem to Gaza.
Grateful for you,
Dr. Wahid and Laila Wahba
